Deacons @ MPC
The specific responsibilities of deacons at Mandarin Presbyterian Church are identified as:
- Provide for the physical and spiritual needs of individuals and families.
- Minister to those who are sick, friendless, and in distress.
- Refer and channel persons in need to appropriate organized groups for specific attention.
- Be intentional in worship and serve as a witness to the power of the Holy Spirit in our church and community.
How we can help:
Worship Team
This team works diligently in four main areas; Communion Coordination, Flower Ministry, In-Home Communion, and MPC’s Prayer Ministry. They make sure that communion is available to all that request it whether or not they can physically worship with us. And they make sure that anyone who needs prayer receives it.
Care Team
This team spends most of their time ministering to those that are in distress. They coordinate with the HUGS ministry of the church for anyone that might need rides to doctors. They make sure meals are delivered to those that need them. They are very active in the life of Stephen Ministry, a group of trained individuals who are partnered with church members in crisis. This team is also involved in Funeral Ministry as the need arises.
Service Team
Oftentimes, this team goes unnoticed, but their work is invaluable. They oversee MUGS, a group of men who assist church members with household repairs and maintenance. They also coordinate volunteers to perform routine maintenance across all campuses at least twice a year.
Connections Team
This team is in charge of organizing a campaign to call every family in the church at least twice a year to share upcoming activities, listen to concerns and areas in which a family needs assistance and pray for each family. They also take on an individual task beyond just calling. A deacon is assigned to each new family when they join MPC to serve as a contact and and guide. Each deacon serves their assigned family for 6 months and makes regular contact with them to ensure that their needs are being met.
