Middle School

In our Middle School ministry we love to go crazy for Christ and live our mission to Invite, Connect, Equip and Serve.  We offer a variety of programs and events for every step of your faith adventure.

We will kick-off the fall on Sunday, September 10th! We will return to the Mandarin Road campus at that time!

Middle School

Middle School is a crazy time of life! It is the time that we change more than any other time of life other than birth through two. It is easy to feel lost, awkward, and different, but here you will find a place that will feel like home with people who love middle schoolers!

Hang 10

If you are just starting out, come to our Hang 10 program. Hang 10 comes from a verse in the Bible where Jesus explains that he is not here to steal away our fun with a bunch of silly rules and with religion. Instead his purpose is that, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) That’s exciting news to us.

Hang 10 is beginning with dinner this year!  Bring $5 and come grab food with your friends and leaders!  (If you don’t want to eat, still come at 6:00 so you don’t miss out on great hang out time!)  From dinner, we go into our programming time, which consists of games, music, skits, etc…  From there, we take a look at God’s word in a message given by someone on our student ministry staff or a leader.  Afterwards, we head to small groups where you get the opportunity to connect and discuss the talk and ask questions.  Small groups are based on grade and gender and have at least one adult and one High School leader who love middle schoolers.  This program takes place Wednesday nights during the school year from 6:00 – 8:00pm on our Mandarin Road Campus!

Dive In

If you’re more interested in God and you are ready to go to deeper and open up your Bible, then get here Sunday mornings for Dive In. This is where we get nice and deep with our discussions of Christ and the Bible. There are usually some crazy games and yummy doughnut eating. It is a fun time to learn more about being a Christian and have the stories of the Bible come alive.  We start the morning with breakfast and some hang out time, then break into groups.  Dive In splits into two groups:  Middle School girls and Middle school guys.  We meet Sunday mornings from 9:00 – 10:15 in Woodys on our Mandarin Road Campus.   At 10:15 there is a bus that drives middle school students to the Loretto Road Campus for worship, or parents can pick up their students from Woodys.

Go M.A.D.

Jesus told us that He came to earth to serve and not to be served. Our hope is that we can model our lives in the same way. At various times throughout the year we have special events planned for our middle schoolers to Go MAD – ‘Go Make A Difference’. This could be helping out with the children’s ministry’s annual Pumpkin Jam, serving food at a homeless shelter, loving on refugee kids, or serving in any way that God would allow us to show His love.

SURFboard

We believe that Middle Schoolers have awesome ideas and passion and really can change the world around them. SURFboard is for 7th and 8th graders who want to put their ideas into action. It is for kids who want to grow deeper with Christ. It is for those who want to serve their fellow middle schoolers and who want to lead in their schools and at Hang 10 to show them who Christ is and what He is doing in their lives. We usually meet one Sunday a month, with sign-ups in the Fall.

Events

Throughout the year we have different events designed for middle school students to invite their friends! In the past we have done things like Rock the Universe, Fruit Bowl, and Gut Bomb night.  We have Christmas parties, competitions, and all kinds of fun outings. Our favorite and biggest event of the year is our Hang Ten Weekend in April.  Check calendars for what they will be this year!
